O grupo Le Monde associou-se a Vincent Bolloré, empresário francês, para criar um jornal diário gratuito. Bolloré, que também esteve na origem do lançamento, em Junho passado, do diário gratuito Direct Soir, vai tratar da publicidade e da logística do novo gratuito, enquanto que o Le Monde será encarregue da edição e da impressão. Segundo o jornal Les Echos, a parceria para o lançamento do gratuito matutino tem como objectivo responder ao projecto do Le Figaro e do canal M6 que anunciaram que querem criar um jornal gratuito vespertino. O Le Monde já estaria a contar com a possibilidade de criar uma nova publicação gratuita, acreditando que o seu défice em receitas de publicidade se deve ao desenvolvimento da publicidade nos jornais gratuitos.
